The Striper fishing has been really good the last week on live mackerel. We got about 30 fish on Saturday. On Monday we got six keepers including this 41 incher which was his first saltwater fish ever. The Mackeral have been closer to Gurnet latley. I saw them on the surface on Tuesday. We would go right up to the school and put the rigs down and get them that way. Not much luck anywhere else though.
You can find the Makerel North of Gurnet towards the High pines buoy, or south towards the power plant. Try in 80 to 90 feet of water. Bass are still under the birds in the morning and in the rips.
The mackerel are in.. real thick in 90 feet of water. The more south you go the more thicker they are. Schools of smaller bass have been working in the bay with birds above them.. Bass are slowly coming in more and more each day. Good flounder fishing now!!.. Tuna will be here mid-June.
